3 Ways To Find The Vintage Jewelry You Want

Posted on: 24 November 2020

If you love jewelry but you are looking for something that is a little different than what you would normally get, you might consider going with something that is vintage. There is a lot of vintage jewelry out there, from just about any era that you would like. Some of it will be real, and some will be costume, and some will be reproductions or replicas. If you like vintage jewelry, there are several ways that you can find the pieces that you are looking for.

Estate Sales

One way to do it is to go to estate sales. An estate sale is basically like a huge garage sale, only instead of just selling a few things, everything is for sale. They can be done as an auction, where each item or lot is put up so that people can bid on it. Estate sales can also be similar to yard sales and garage sale, where you can walk through and buy whatever piece catches your eye. It is more likely that the estate sale will be a mix of the two, with the more valuable pieces going up for auction. You may be able to get a list that has a basic description of what the estate sale has to offer so you can decide whether or not it's a sale that you want to visit.

Pawn Shop

You might not think of this as a place to get vintage jewelry, but people pawn a lot of things, and jewelry is just one of them. If you are hunting for vintage jewelry, it's worth going in and looking to see what local pawn shops have to offer. The nice thing is that you can negotiate prices if you go to a pawn shop.

Flea Market

Another way to get vintage jewelry is to go to flea markets. There are temporary flea markets that are only set up on weekends or certain days and there are flea markets that are permanent. Some of those flea markets will specialize in particular things, like antiques. You can visit one of these flea markets and look for booths that carry jewelry. They should have a wide selection of vintage jewelry for you to pick from. One benefit to going this route is that you are going to be able to create a relationship with the dealer, and they can keep their eyes out for things for you.
